At the end of the first quarter of the year, Zon had 536,700 Triple Play customers. Compared to the same period last year, the number represents an increase of 57.9 percent, assuring the company that 45.6 percent of the customers of its cable services are also users of telephone and Internet services, using Triple offers Company Play. On average, each Zon customer subscribes 2.26 services.

According to the figures released last night by Zon, it is also known that the company managed to increase its average monthly revenue per customer by 7.6 percent compared to the first three months of 2009, to 35.2 euros.

The evolution is a result of the growth in the number of services sold to each customer, which the company chooses as one of the major growth factors in the period.

In broadband services, the company managed to attract 24.7 thousand customers in the period and in fixed-line services 62 thousand new customers in the period under analysis.

Zon ended the first three months of the year with profits falling 52.3 percent to 9.3 million euros. However, the company’s results in the period were above expectations and the sharp drop in profits is explained by the capital gains achieved in the same period last year, when it included 16.9 million euros with the sale of 40 percent of Lisbon TV. Adjusting for this effect, Zon’s earnings advanced between January and March 2010 by 28.8 percent.

The revenues of the owner of TV Cabo stood at 213.5 million euros in the same period, 8.2 percent more than in the first three months of 2009. EBITDA grew 17 percent to 73.3 million euros .
