McAfee, the digital security company, released on Monday (21) the annual list of the “Most Dangerous Celebrities” in the world. The company aims to alert users to the risk of accessing unreliable links from their favorite artists.

Presenter James Corden, from the program The Late Late Show, appears in second place. Actress Sophie Turner, made famous by the show game of Thrones, reaches third position. A ranking was also prepared for the UK audience. First on the list is presenter Caroline Flack, from the program Love Island. Next up is actress Maisie Williams, from the series game of Thrones, with host James Corden in third. McAfee conducts the survey of the Internet’s most dangerous celebrities every year to warn of the dangers of clicking suspicious links and pirated content. Hackers take advantage of the popularity of the most searched celebrities online to attack vulnerable computers and cell phones. Criminals add malicious links to malware to famous names – like viruses, worms and spyware – and steal users’ personal information.
The methodology used by McAfee was to search the name of the celebrity associated with a set of words like torrent, nudes, pirated download and streaming. The company warned that celebrity names are often searched for the word “torrent”. This may indicate that users are looking for free pirated streaming services to watch programs and series.
In the 2018 ranking, the first place went to actress Ruby Rose in the series Batwoman, from DC Comics. Kristen Cavallari and Kourtney Kardashian, who made the list in the top ten last year, fell dramatically in 2019 to positions 214 and 222, respectively. This indicates that interest in celebrities may have waned.
