New campaign tries to show how Alexa can be used to help educate children during quarantine

While the COVID-19 pandemic keeps schools closed and children learning distance in the safety of their homes, parents often do not have enough time to help children with schoolwork or to keep them entertained. And Amazon believes that in that Alexa, the company's virtual assistant, may end up helping.

In a new advertising campaign, the company focuses on showing the different ways that parents can use the assistant to help children during the quarantine period, whether by taking questions about matters such as math and physics, or suggesting some activities to entertain them. when they're not studying.

Produced by the duo of directors Bel & Ju (who were responsible for the script, direction, photography, scenery, art and costumes), the film developed for the Amazon it shows the routine of a mother who is stuck at home with her child during the new coronavirus pandemic, and shows how the virtual assistant can help parents who need to deploy to care for their children while trying to maintain productivity in their jobs.

According to Marcelo Rizrio, creative director at CP + B Brasil (advertising agency responsible for creating the campaign), the purpose of the film is to show that, more than just answering the child's doubts, Alexa can be used to facilitate the daily lives of its users.

In the campaign video, you can see the Alexa responding to some interactions that are from questions directly asked virtual assistant, such as Alexa, where do the babies come from? or Alexa, why doesn't the baby tooth taste like milk?, and the assistant will answer these questions appropriately for the children to understand.

It is also possible to see some more direct order interactions, such as asking for Alexa turn off the light, play 80's music (request that will make the assistant open the user's favorite music app) or ask her to search the internet for a chocolate cake recipe.

In addition to taking questions and making some direct orders from the user, the virtual assistant You can also perform several activities at the same time from a single voice command using the Routines configuration. With this option it is possible to configure, for example, for the assistant to turn off the TV and turn on the study table light when hearing the command Alexa, time to study or else turn off the light in the room and start playing relaxing sounds when the user speaks Alexa, bedtime.
