Alcatel-Lucent recorded losses of 402 million euros during the first three months of 2009. The figures more than double the 181 million euros of deficit obtained a year ago, being the tenth consecutive quarter that the company has recorded losses.
Revenues, in turn, fell 6.9 percent to 3.6 billion euros.
The results reflect, according to Alcatel, the drop in demand for telecommunications equipment, due to the crisis that is felt worldwide.
«This is going to be a year of transition,» said Alcatel-Lucent CEO Ben Verwaeeyen. «Our orientation will continue and we are taking action,» said the official.
