Sun Microsystems Portugal and UMIC – Knowledge Society Agency signed this Monday a protocol aimed at implementing the collaboration line in ICT Academies, opened by the Memorandum of Understanding established between the Government and the manufacturer last February.
Through the protocol now signed, Sun starts to support UMIC in the development of ICT Academies, promoting its training offer in Higher Education institutions, namely polytechnic institutes and universities, as part of the ICT Academies network, which integrates similar initiatives with other companies.
In this context, Sun Microsystems will allow free access for Higher Education institutions that join the ICT Academies initiative, and their teachers and students, to all web courses integrated in the Sun Academic Initiative (SAI) training program, which includes training online technologies developed by the manufacturer.
In order to promote SAI, Sun has been conducting a roadshow in several higher education institutions. The next are scheduled for 21 and 27 May and 1 June, taking place respectively at the Instituto Superior Técnico, at the University of Aveiro and at the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University of Portugal.
