Adobe warned of the identification of a critical vulnerability affecting company applications, namely the popular Reader, used by many to read files in PDF format. Acrobat, intended for conversion to the same format, is also targeted.

The flaw, which still has no fix available, affects Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and its earlier versions for Windows, Mac and Unix and Adobe Acrobat 9.3.4 and earlier versions for Windows and Mac.

According to information advanced online by Adobe, the vulnerability could cause computers to block or be exploited in attacks that allow third parties to control the machines.

The company also admits to having received reports that the flaw is already being exploited.

However, the software manufacturer claims to be «in the process of evaluating the problem», promising an update that corrects the problem, although it does not yet advance dates for availability.
