There is no denying that the Adobe Illustrator one of the best optimized tools for the work of digital artists and graphic designers today. But like most software it is not free to fail to save or open files, as there are chances that this problem is from the operating system itself or worse: a human error.

To help you rescue files with an extensive ".ai" and potentially save hours that could be wasted on a project we present you some solutions, starting with configurations within Adobe's own program.

Configuring Illustrator

First of all, it is worth configuring the backup methods in case the program fails a tip from Adobe itself. To do this, just click on Preferences, after Handling of files and clipboard and then Data recovery. By checking the box and defining a time interval, you customize the software to suit your working frequency. If you depend professionally on Illustrator, we suggest placing 2 minutes.

Just below the time interval, you can choose the destination folder for these backup files created in the future. The selection Disable data recovery for complex documents it can also be clicked to prevent the program from crashing or from creating artistically interrupted in the middle of progress.

This tip is for avoiding further problems, but what to do when something has gone wrong? If the file gets corrupted, a solution is to test it by opening another project within the program itself. To do this, click Archive -> New and create any geometric shape in the blank area.

Then save in the folder where you prefer, go to that destination and right click on the document. You will need to import the newly created file in the app Notepad from your computer, whether Windows or iOS. A series of numbers appear, like this:

Copy the last lines, which will appear in the notepad

Copy the codes and open the problem document also in the notepad. Paste the codes from the previous file at the end of this sequence and save with the extension ".ai" straight through the notepad. Finally, try to open the new creation in Illustrator. Still not solved? We have another recommendation.
