The iPad is a great tool for many types of professionals, but it still doesn’t completely meet everyone’s needs, especially for those who work in graphic arts. Even to maintain this Blog, for example, on trips we are obliged to always carry a MacBook together, as creating more elaborate images for articles is not an easy task on the tablet.
Adobe seems to be interested in changing this situation and is already working on a version of its most famous image editing program, Photoshop, for iOS. The demonstration was made this week at the conference Photoshop World 2011.
There is currently an Express version for iOS, but it is still quite limited. The new application demonstrated (no date expected for public version) has advanced editing tools, such as the use of layers, which are so important in professional work.
The application is still in development and it is necessary to see if with your fingers it is possible to obtain the same precision as a mouse cursor or a graphic tablet. But even so, the project itself is enough to make all professionals in the field hopeful about the possibilities that should appear.
