Adobe Air gets Android version later this year

Adobe confirmed that at the end of this year, probably shortly after the end of the fourth quarter, it makes available a public version of its Adobe Air (Adobe Integrated Runtime) for mobile systems equipped with Android.

The platform was originally launched in February this year for mobile devices and has already evolved into new versions, which added some new features.

According to the company, the Android version – which will be part of the update to version 2.5 – will bring rich applications to the mobile operating system that take advantage of the features of multitouch, gesture interaction, accelerometer and geolocation, possible by GPS attributes of equipment.

Adobe Air technology allows you to run flash web applications without using a browser. The version of the product that will reach users of smartphones with Android operating system may not run on all devices, warns Adobe.

However, equipment capable of running Flash Player version 10.1 must also be prepared to receive the product.

According to information provided by VentureBeat, more than 7 thousand programmers have already signed up to work on the Android version of Adobe Air.

Adobe also plans to launch, from the same time, some applications on the Android Market.
