If you type “effects” into the App Store search tool, you’ll find dozens of apps that promise to improve, or even transform, the look of your images. However, not all available apps are so easy to use – and, more often than not, they don’t make the most of what iPhones have to offer.
In the case of the new iPad Pro and the X, XS, XS Max and XR iPhones, the TrueDepth front camera can process (incredibly) images with depth – so much so that the effects of Portrait Mode are very realistic.
To leverage the potential of images captured by Portrait Mode, young Austrian developer Leonard Pospichal launched the app Fuzion, which allows you to add incredible effects to these images in a very simple way – and the result is spectacular.
More precisely, the app uses data from the TrueDepth camera (and the rear camera of the 8 Plus, X, XS and XS Max models) to automatically separate your silhouette from the background of the image. In this way, it is possible to combine several (beautiful) scenarios very well with your images, simplifying an editing job that could be done in Photoshop or in the Enlight app, for example.
To start, simply capture an image in Portrait Mode (from the front camera of iPhones with Face ID or from devices with dual rear camera system; except iPhone 7 Plus). Or, select an image from the Photo Library. The app will automatically detect a silhouette and, from there, you can select the best filter, effect and background that matches your photo.
It is worth mentioning that Fuzion is an app freemium, that is, its download is free, but to access all the options of background, filters and effects, an internal purchase of R $ 11 is required. Check out more creations with this app on its official page and on Instagram.
