Another week, another wave of news involving the Apple TV +. And today we have everything, from the announcement of new productions to the departure of an important name from the service – and going through an Apple charity action involving one of its original contents.

«Severance»
The first news of the day comes from Hollywood Reporter: Apple signed a contract to produce the series «Severance», written / directed by Ben Stiller (“A Night at the Museum”) and starring Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation”).
Adam Scott and Ben StillerCreated by Dan Erickson, the drama series will take place in the workplace of a fictional company, called Lumen Industries, which aims to “take the balance between work and personal life to a new level”. Scott will play Mark, a man with a dark past who tries to reestablish his own life with a job at such a mysterious company.
Apple ordered a first season with ten episodes, and the series will be co-produced by Endeavor Content – which is already responsible for «See», one of the first original Apple TV + series. There is still no information about recordings or release date.
Premiere of «Truth Be Told»
It happened last night, at The Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles (California, USA), the premiere of «Truth Be Told» – series to be released in a few weeks on Apple TV +.
The stars were Octavia Spencer, Aaron Paul, Lizzy Caplan, Elizabeth Perkins, Michael Beach, Mekhi Phifer, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood and Ron Cephas Jones, as well as executive producer Reese Witherspoon.
The drama series follows the life of Poppy Parnell (Octavia Spencer) – a podcaster who is coerced into reopening a murder case that has made her a national sensation. With that, she comes face to face with Warren Cave (Aaron Paul) – the man she, perhaps mistakenly, put behind bars.
The first three episodes of «Truth Be Told» will arrive on Apple TV + on the day December 6, with new episodes coming out every Friday.
Donations by “The Elephant Queen”
Meanwhile, Apple announced a good environmental preservation initiative involving the original documentary “The Elephant Queen”, now available on Apple TV +. For every person who watches production in service in 2019, Apple will make a Donation to help protect endangered elephants in the area where the documentary was filmed.
Although Apple has not specified the amount of these donations or the specific institutions that will receive the funds, the announcement is a great incentive for more people to check out the documentary – which in itself is already very interesting, by the way.
Ken Rozenfeld’s departure
Finally, the deadline informed the departure of Ken Rozenfeld Apple TV +. The executive was one of the first hired for the service, still in 2017, and headed the department of scripted and non-scripted (documentary) productions currently underway.
Rozenfeld, however, will not be so far removed from Cupertino: he will return to the company he founded, the Half Full Productions – the producer has signed a first bid contract with Apple and is expected to continue working with Apple in the future. The difference is that the executive is expected to play a more creative role there than his management position at Apple.
Because of Rozenfeld’s departure, Apple TV + underwent a small change at the top of the chain: Matt Cherniss, head of development for scripted productions, will now also oversee productions of the type currently underway. Already Molly Thompson, head of documentary production development, will also be responsible for the documentary series currently in production on the platform.
