Acer plans to open an office in Portugal and form a local team to ensure a better definition of local strategies – guaranteeing current growth levels – and to maintain a closer relationship with the partner network.

«So far we have always looked at Portugal from Spain, but we are committed to forming a team of local human resources. We are in a time of globalization but each country has its identity and its language and that is a very important aspect», he explained to TeK António Papale, in an interview that we published during the weekend.

The direct presence in Portugal will allow the company to adapt its channel programs and reinforce its focus on segments where it maintains a less significant presence in the Portuguese market, such as monitors, the official said.

The company is launching two new PDAs at the local level that confirm the diversification strategy. The n35 Enhanced Navigator has a built-in 12-channel GPS receiver, multimedia features, a built-in personal information management system, a TFT screen and an autonomy of 8 hours. Available from 379 euros, this device has a 320MB data storage space and SD memory cards with a capacity of up to 1GB, according to a statement.

Along with this model, Acer also launches the Acer n50 with Dual Wireless, equipped with Microsoft ActiveSync Software for data synchronization with other equipment and Windows Mobile2003 Second Edition Software for Pocket PC, in a 64MB memory. This model is also available in a premium version with 128MB and 64MB Flash Rom. Of these, the simplest model is available for 349 euros, advances the same statement.

On the same date, the company announced a set of new equipment based on Intel’s Sonoma platform.
