According to journalist, Apple * no longer * intends to launch a new monitor

In the middle of the year a rumor circulated that Apple could launch a new 5K display with integrated graphics card. It would all run through a Thunderbolt 3 port and the GPU would help poorer Macs, like the 12 ″ MacBook, which doesn't have enough power to run a monitor on its own.

Shortly thereafter Apple killed the Thunderbolt Display, which remained intact for over five years without receiving any updates. However, the idea was not to abandon the monitor market at least according to John Paczkowski's sources. BuzzFeed News), but take something quite outdated from the market until a new display was launched.

Time passed and rumors about an event to launch new Macs arrived. Obviously, it made perfect sense to launch this new monitor at such an event, but our expectations were soon cut by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (who has a good track record in forecasting Apple releases). Days before the event actually took place, Kuo said he would be focused on launching the new MacBook Pro iMacs and a new monitor would be in 2017. The event passed and once again the analyst got it right.

It was strange, however, to see Phil Schiller (Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing) put a lot of emphasis on the new LG display during the MacBook Pro presentation, even talking that the two companies worked together to create it.

In fact there are some things that show this partnership well, such as the ability to adjust the brightness and some other display settings by the Mac itself, as Jason Snell reported on his website (the Six colors). The fact that the LG UltraFine 4K has three USB-C ports and a Thunderbolt 3 (capable of charging the 13 ″ MacBook Pro) and the LG UltraFine 5K has the same number of ports (but capable of charging the MBP of 15 ″) also reinforces the thesis that Apple really got a lot involved in this project.

Now, if Ma still intends to launch a monitor, would such a move make no sense at all? Yeah Second Nilay Patel (editor in chief of The verge), Apple has decided bid farewell to the monitor market. Do not expect, therefore, a new Apple monitor being released in 2017.

A pity, especially considering that Apple sells two Macs without a screen (Mac mini and Mac Pro) and that such accessory (external monitor) is indispensable for their use. Not to mention, of course, the thousands of people who own MacBooks (Air / Pro) and have a monitor at home / work to make the experience of using a laptop more satisfying. If Apple launched a cool monitor for an interesting price, I have no doubt how successful it would be.

On the other hand, Mac Pro will be over 1,040 days and Mac mini 740 days without updates shows that, contrary to what it claims, Apple is not very concerned about such users.
