As part of a series of measures included in the Better Lawmaking program, the Council of Ministers today approved the date from which the Diário da República is accessible online free of charge. The executive determined that from 1 July this year all internet users can access the edition for free online of the Diário da República, a public service considered «indispensable for strengthening and exercising active citizenship».
All previous free distributions of the paper edition of the Diário da República will now be replaced by access online, and the publication of acts in the DR is now made exclusively by electronic means, certified by a qualified electronic signature.
The diploma also determines that from September 15th, access to the DIGESTO database will be available from the website managed by Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, which reinforces the access to the law and the treated legal information. This service will be paid for and progressive connection and interoperability with other legal databases in the Public Administration is expected.
