She is 37 years old, married, a mother of three and a sports fan, the new director general of Microsoft. The first woman at the head of the Portuguese subsidiary’s destinations says she is optimistic and a believer in the ability to keep the local subsidiary «on the path of excellence».
Cláudia Goya has been with Microsoft for about a year and a half and has been working in the marketing area. He now assumes the leadership of the company in Portugal, followed by Nuno Duarte, who served for three years and left the Portuguese subsidiary in June to take up new functions in Japan.
The manager has 15 years of experience in the business management area, during which she has worked in various areas and sectors. He started at Procter & Gamble and before joining Microsoft he was at Galp Energia for five years, where he managed the company’s retail business in Portugal and Spain.
In the presentation of the new director-general to the press, the company’s human resources director explained that in a process like this, the company seeks the desired profile internally, but also always looks at the market.
In this case, he ended up leaving the decision «at home» – which did not happen with Nuno Duarte who came from Novabase – for recognizing in the manager the necessary attributes for the function.
Cláudia Goya, graduated in technological physical engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, guarantees that her management will maintain the objective of «bringing awards to Portugal» and «continuing to a level of excellence» within the group. The official admits, however, that times are still «troubled» and that there are macroeconomic factors that she cannot control relevant to the future of the operation, but she still assures that she is optimistic.
João Paulo Girbal and Rodrigo Costa were also in the leadership of Microsoft’s national subsidiary, in addition to Nuno Duarte.
