A thousand Apple engineers would be totally focused on chips; company's best days “are yet to come”

According to a conversation between Erick Schonfeld, editor of TechCrunch, and a Silicon Valley executive who knew Steve Jobs, he would have confirmed that about 1,000 engineers at Ma would be working directly on chip development. For Jobs, "lowering consumption and decreasing the size (of processors) would be the key to everything."

Do you remember the two acquisitions that Apple made in that area, PA Semiconductor (2008) and Intrinsity (2010)? Well, until recently, nobody knew exactly why such investments, but with the appearance of the A4 and A5 chips, everything fell into place.

The interesting thing about this story is that 1,000 engineers represent 5% of the company's total employees (if we exclude the staff Apple Retail Stores) which, let's face it, a lot of people!

We know that battery is a very important function in iGadgets, and this is directly related to the chip used by the device. Comparing the iPhone 4 (A4 chip) with the iPhone 4S (A5 chip), we can see that the hardware of the new Apple smartphone is much bigger, while its battery remains practically the same (even better in some aspects); the same happened with iPad and iPad 2.

Taking into account that Apple products are migrating from HDD to SSD, the gains are even greater. Furthermore, with this change, almost anything can become a device ps-PC. Today we have MacBooks Air, iPhones, iPods touch, iPads but and tomorrow, what will happen?

As we already know, Jobs made it very clear in his letter of resignation that “the most brilliant and innovative days of the company are yet to come”, and, according to MG Siegler, TechCrunch, the co-founder and former CEO of Apple was probably focused on the company's long-term launches. According to Siegler's sources, the products that Ma is developing now are the best things the company has ever done, and will be "blow your head off" products.

Taking into account that the iPhone is four years old and the iPad, two and they are what they are, I doubt nothing more.
