a simple gallery by Francisco Franco

Fokus: galeri sederhana oleh Francisco Franco

Most photo gallery apps for Android don’t have a very pleasant experience. With Photos, Google brought changes that were very welcome, however the application is still not the most friendly. To solve this problem, Francisco Franco launched the Focus, a gallery that promises the best user experience possible.

Those who root your Android may know Francisco Franco, by franco.Kernel, he is responsible for several root apps. At Focus, he teamed up with AndroidPolice’s Liam Spradlin to deliver a simple, easy-to-use gallery. Simplicity is one of the keywords of the application: from the home screen, all your images can be seen from the side slides. Like most galleries, photos are divided into folders; when entering each folder, they are divided by month.

Simplicity follows in the Material Design lines of the app and in the Settings, which are only 4, of these, two are only available in mode premium. Another very important and interesting function is the tags, and you can tag your photos to make it easier to search.

The Focus comes with 11 ready-made tags (Art, Awesome, Family, Food, Friends, Fun, Me, Nature, Night, Pets and Travel), when tagging the photos, the app creates Collections with each one. You can also add others in premium. For R $ 12.11 (or R $ 34.31, as I wanted to make a donation to the developers), the user receives the custom tags, collection control (you can choose which collections will appear on the home page), a dark theme, lock the screen in an image (blocking the side slide), integration with Muzei live wallpapers and priority access to new functions (such as support for Google Photos).

Focus has only one major flaw: there are no image editing tools.

Since the launch of Google Photos, I have migrated all my images and videos there, so I was unable to test Focus with a large number of files. However, if the application includes cloud support, it is certainly a worthwhile investment, even though the manual tagging system means many hours marking the thousands of images I have saved. Unfortunately, I had trouble purchasing the version premium, so I was unable to test certain functions.

Focus is in version 1.0.1, it came out of beta just yesterday, occupies about 14MB of space, requires Android 4.1 or higher and is available for download on the Play Store.

What is the best gallery for Android? Is Photos enough?
