A new wave of Apple updates has come out: SuperDrive Firmware, MacBook (Pro) EFI Firmware and AirPort Client

Apple has just released updates for the SuperDrive for Macs, EFI firmware for MacBooks and MacBooks Pro, and an update for the AirPort Client.

SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0 (18.35MB)

Mac mini

Eliminates the noise emitted by optical drives during system startup or when the Mac returns from mode sleep. It is compatible with the following firmware updates:

  • iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.4
  • Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.2
  • MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.4
  • MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.8

The update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher. More information can be obtained in this support article.

EFI Firmware Update: MacBook 1.4 | MacBook Pro 1.8

Update correlated with the previous one. It is required for installing SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0. The MacBook 1.4 weighs 3.14MB, while the MacBook Pro 1.8 is slightly larger: 3.36MB.

AirPort coneAirPort Client Update 2009-002 (12.95MB)

The update brings corrections to:

  • Inability to turn AirPort on / off in some cases after upgrading from Leopard;
  • Occasional loss of network connection when using Wake on Demand;
  • Difficulty creating computer-to-computer networks or sharing an internet connection with some models of MacBooks, MacBooks Pro and Macs mini.

This update is recommended for all Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard users.
