A guy accidentally swallowed an AirPod … and managed to get it back later!

One guy swallowed one AirPod. That’s right you read: A GUY SWALLOWED AN AIRPOD! Calm that I explain this story told by Daily Mail Online.

Taiwanese Ben Hsu fell asleep with the headphones to his ears, and when he woke up, he couldn’t find one. He then used Find My iPhone (despite the name, you can track various devices on it like iPads, Apple Watches and Macs – in addition to iPhones, of course – properly registered with your Apple ID) and found that the phone was still in your bedroom. He even listened to the sound (you can reproduce a noise in the headphones to help with the task of finding them) very close, but he searched, searched and nothing.

After searching hard, he realized that the sound was coming from his stomach.

He did not feel any discomfort, but still went to the hospital, where he confirmed that the device was in his belly. The doctors then said that the AirPod was passing through your digestive system, but that if it didn’t come out (you know where), then only with surgery.

Dr. Chen Chieh-fan, who works in the emergency room and attended to Hsu, said that because of the plastic wrap around the AirPod, the risk of causing some damage – compared to swallowing a normal lithium-ion battery – was much smaller. If he had swallowed a battery, then the problem was quite serious as it could cause ruptures in his intestine.

The doctors then gave a laxative to help with the arduous task that Hsu faced. Behold, after a day, the phone gave its air of grace when the navy recruiter made his needs at a train station.

Yes Yes. This is what you are imagining: he put his hand on “Bostelho” (we don’t know the technical details of how this was done but, apparently, from the photo above, he literally stuck his hand in his work of art) and recovered his blessed phone.

After a good wash and a few hours for the pet to dry and breathe again, Hsu discovered that everything was working perfectly and that the AirPod still had 41% of battery after going through this stomach adventure.

That’s it, my friends. So we ended another AirPods endurance test – and with the device, against everything and everyone, surviving. Just don’t try this test at home, please.
