88% of the most expensive smartphones sold in the world are iPhones

That Apple has a monumental strength at the top of the smartphone market, everyone knows. These figures brought by Counterpoint Research in their most recent survey, however, they help to put this idea into context and, more than that, show that Ma's performance is doing very well also in lower segments of the segment.

The review firm made a breakdown of global smartphone sales premium (defined as those that cost more than $ 400) in the second quarter of 2018, dividing this universe into three sectors: devices between $ 400 and $ 600, between $ 600 and $ 800 and above $ 800. Apple barbarously dominated the highest part of the market: 88% of the smartphones of more than eight hundred dollars sold in the world are iPhones, which comes as no surprise, since the company basically inaugurated this new level of prices and, so far, only Samsung decided to accompany her (with a niche device, good to note).

In the middle segment of smartphones premium, Ma has a slight lead compared to South Korea (44% to 41%). The most surprising part is that Apple also leads the bottom slice, $ 400- $ 600, drawing 22% with OPPO that is, the Cupertino giant is doing something right also in its sale of older iPhones for lower prices.

When it comes to money, Apple also continues to swim: in the second quarter of this year, Ma grabbed 62% of all profit generated in the smartphone market, a slight drop compared to the same period in 2017, but still maintaining a brutal difference in relation to the 17% of Samsung, second place. Incidentally, it is interesting to note the progressive fall of the South Korean in this metric (due to the lower than expected sales of the Galaxy S9, mainly) and, on the other hand, the upward curve of Chinese Huawei, OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi.

Another interesting survey is the one that separates the peas in each region of the world considering all smartphone sales above US $ 400. Only in two regions (here in Latin America and on central Europe) Samsung leader; in all others, Apple stands out.
