600,000 reservations for iPhone 4 on the first day

Vodafone adjusts iPhone 4 price to compete with TMN

Reservations for the new iPhone in the United States began yesterday with some congestion problems on sites where users could register interest in the product, the AT&T and Apple sites. We already know why. The demand for the equipment on the first pre-sale day was above that recorded with previous editions of the iPhone or other Apple media gadgets, such as the tablet iPad.

According to figures released by Apple, more than 600,000 units of the new version of the smartphone, which positions the iPhone 4 as a serious candidate for record sales, compared to previous models. Apple’s best record with this type of equipment set sales of one million units in the first three days of sales.

With sales data for the first day of online ordering, Apple also apologized for the problems that users interested in booking an iPhone 4 had to face due to the high number of access to the site.

Also due to the above-estimated interest in the new product, users who reserve the iPhone in this pre-sale period will start to have access to the equipment as of the next 14th of July, about three weeks after the date set for the beginning of the store sales and days after the first estimated date, which indicated the start of deliveries on 2 July.

It is recalled that just yesterday Nokia revised sales forecasts for the second quarter pointing to the previously estimated minimum sales limit, as a result of intense competition in the smartphone market. The new data seems to indicate that Apple will further strengthen competition with more traditional manufacturers.
