NVIDIA started the year 2020 by giving a nice update to the Linux driver in the 440 series, more precisely in version 440.59.

Some of the improvements that were incorporated were support in conjunction with the Linux 5.5 Kernel in DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (DP MST), several video fixes, a bug in DXVK regarding the compilation of shaders that were in a loop infinity and a new PRIME Synchronization as seen in the other releases of the 440 series driver.

The other news and improvements were:
- Disabled frame rate limit for configurations without active screens when HardDPMS is enabled.
- Restricted the maximum number of screens per GPU device, to prevent the X server from crashing when more than one GPU screen is configured for a single device.
- Fixed a bug that could cause the X server to crash when exiting DPMS with HardDPMS enabled.
- Added a standard file when saving the file for video configuration in nvidia-settings if it is not detected.
- Added support for audio through the DisplayPort Multi-Stream.
This support requires Linux kernel version 5.5 or later.
- Updated the NVIDIA driver to allow high definition audio controllers NVIDIA (HDA) respond to the display of hotplug events while the HDA is suspended at run time.
- Fixed a bug that caused titles DXVK infinite loop during compilation of the shader, if no OpSource instructions were present.
- Sync support added PRIME for the kernel Linux 5.4 and later.

Well, now we have to wait for the arrival of the 440.59 driver in the repositories of Linux distros, if not already in some.
