3M Introduces First USB 3.0 Monitor

3M yesterday presented its first fully powered and functional monitor via the USB 3.0 interface, offering an 18.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1366 Ă— 768 pixels.

The peripheral uses two USB 3.0 ports, using the 5Gbps band of the interface to enable the transmission of high definition images, something impossible with the 480Mbps of the previous standard, USB 2.0. The use of two ports is required to power the monitor, which requires 8W of power.

Okay, that is ideal, but a fully USB display is certainly something to behold.
