(Updated) Whether it’s closer to Barcelona, the guaranteed cost reduction compared to Cannes or the dynamics of the national market, the fact is that this year the 3GSMWorld fair receives a reinforced delegation of Portuguese who, sharing space with international partners or individually, they have an exhibition space for their solutions.
Among the exhibitors, TeK found eight Portuguese companies, the vast majority present at the fair for the first time and conveying a very positive feeling regarding the potential opened by this event.
João Valente, partner from WeDo Consulting, explains that the company repeats its presence at the fair with its own space and highlights the importance of participating in these competitions, where doors are opened for businesses that often end up taking place.
The same idea is shared by Eduardo Carqueja, CEO of InfoPortugal, who is promoting the Ndrive brand of localization products at the fair. The company is present at 3GSMWorld for the first time and shares the event with its main competitors in this area, all under the umbrella of TeleAtlas, the largest map supplier in Europe.
Paulo Duarte, European Sales Manager at InfoPortugal, explains that the technology developed by the company is having very good acceptance and that very promising contacts have been made. The company has been expanding its product portfolio, launching new maps of more countries integrated with its software navigation for PDAs and smartphones.
In its own space, Wit Software is also showing its technology, having as prototype a new messaging system for Television that uses the Media Center platform to communicate with mobile devices, a product that still exists in prototype, as explained to TeK Rui Oliveira. Although this is Wit’s first presence at 3GSMWorld, the company wants to repeat and has already pre-registered for next year.
PT Inovação also wants to return to the fair next year, intending to prepare its presence with more time since this year was an almost last minute decision. The PT group company shares a stand with Forward, in which ShortRange is also present, a Portuguese company that invests in short distance communication via Bluetooth.
Paulo Ramalheira, PT Inovação’s media and corporate communication director, explained to TeK that this is the company’s first presence at 3GSMWorld, but that next year the objective is to be in an individualized space.
Portuguese almost by chance, SymLab also makes its debut at the fair, and expects very positive results, as one of the founders explained to TeK, highlighting the importance of contacts that later deepen throughout the year.
MobiComp repeats this year at 3GSMWorld the positive experiences of other editions, this time with an individualized space. The company today announced an agreement with Sun to supply its MobileKeeper product to the Spanish market, ensuring the ability to recover information and storage.
YDreams is another one of the repeated ones, sharing the space again with its partner Navtec. Eduardo Dias assured TeK that this is a worthwhile investment since many contacts are initiated here that subsequently take shape in business. Although he did not visit the fair in person, Eduardo Dias says that the information that has been passed on to him is that this year the contacts are even more productive, with the scheduling of concrete things.
In addition to the Portuguese exhibiting companies, nine more companies participate in the Brokerage Event organized by the Portuguese Innovation Center, coordinated by the Innovation Relay Centers network, which took place in the Catalonia pavilion. In total, 10 companies registered but only nine came to the congress, holding several business meetings here, justified Bibiana Dantas, from AdI, to TeK.
These companies include Colade, Telvite, Inovaworks, Domatica, Present Technologies, Ribatel, Mobicomp, Visual Lx and Felsis.
