WhatsApp: How to tell if you have been blocked
A typical question for WhatsApp users is whether who blocked whom. There is no 100% sure way to know if any have blocked us. Despite this, there are certain clues that can help us, say, clear up a possible block. We deal with the topic in detail in the following article:
WhatsApp: How to change the font of messages manually
It has been a while since WhatsApp has incorporated the ability to change the source of conversations between users. No need to go to the application settings for this to happen, just type a few symbols between the word or phrase you want to change. Say the examples below:
- Underline (example): Enclose the portion to be strikethrough between tilts (~);
- Bold (example): Enclose the section to be underlined between asterisks (*);
- Italic (example): Place the section to be slanted between underlines (_);
- FixedSys font: Enclose the portion you want to change between bass accents (“ `).
WhatsApp: Using the Text Formatting Box
If you prefer, you can use the new text formatting box. Just select the word and click on the three points of the format box to change its font (italic, bold underline).
The new format box also allows you to copy and paste the selected text.
WhatsApp: How to use a different number from your SIM card
Very simple. Maybe you guys went through it too. I bought the WhatsApp app and linked it to my Spanish number. As you know, our office is in Germany, so I now have the German number.
For WhatsApp with another SIM to work with your old number, follow the tutorial below:
- Get another device to enter the SIM of the number you want;
- Uninstall WhatsApp on the device that has a different number than the one you use on WhatsApp;
- Install WhatsApp again so that it asks for the confirmation number;
- Enter the number with the other phone on and your SIM inside;
- Wait for the message to your old number on the other device;
- Enter the confirmation number on the handset with the new telephone number;
- Ready! Here's WhatsApp with a different number than your SIM.
WhatsApp: How to program automatic messages
WhatsApp does not have a native feature for scheduling automatic messages. However, we found the perfect app for that, but you need root access to enjoy its functions.
Learn the walkthrough in the article below:
WhatsApp: Change Wallpaper
Instead of the default WhatsApp background, you can select any image from your gallery to use as a wallpaper. You can do this in specific conversations.
To do this, just join a conversation and click on the three dots on the upper right. Then click on Wallpaper, select an image – or a color – and you're done.
WhatsApp: Share Your Continuous Location
WhatsApp allows sharing not only from a fixed location, but also to allow a specific contact to track you for a certain period of time. This can be a good option for security or to update someone about your arrival without warning.
To share a location continuously, just take the same steps as a normal location upload. Instead of clicking Submit your current locationbut click Share current location and select the time you want the browser to be active.
WhatsApp: Cancel Sent Message
The most awaited function by WhatsApp users has finally arrived. The erase, cancel, delete or revoke feature as you wish has finally come to the messenger's final verse. The message can be deleted in chat from both contacts within 7 minutes of sending it. Both contacts are notified of the removal of the content, even though the message content is no longer visible.
To use, simply select a message, choose Delete and then Delete for All. The example is in the images below:
WhatsApp: Simple Emoji Search
Another feature worth mentioning is the simplified search for emojis from the keyboard. By tapping the magnifying glass icon in the lower left corner, a search field will open and you will be able to search for a specific emoji.
WhatsApp: Share Any File Type
You can now share any type of file with your contact list. The function has a file limit of up to 100MB and is available to all Android and iOS users.
The coolest thing is that shared files do not lose resolution. Among the most common files, we have working documents (Pdf and Doc), videos and photos, but in the WhatsApp review here on the site, you can check other types of files that can be shared.
WhatsApp: Fix important chats
With the ability to fix important chats the user can leave on top of his conversations up to three chats of his choice. The purpose of this new function is to keep the user's view of his most important conversations, preventing him from having to look for them among the others.
WhatsApp: Enter Your Personal Phrase
You can go back to using the traditional status mode in WhatsApp, currently labeled "Scrap". Then your profile "phrase" appears again to your contacts.
To change the status text, simply click on the WhatsApp menu (three dots in the upper right corner of the screen)> Settings> click on your profile> click on the status phrase and you can modify it.
Photos and videos
It's not today that Facebook is striving to bring Snapchat features to its apps. Instagram Stories emerged exactly as an alternative to the service that was threatening the social domain of Mark Zuckerberg apps. Now, WhatsApp co-founder and CEO Jan Koum has posted on the service's official blog that the team has "reinvented status functionality". If you haven't noticed yet, status updates are now available where you can share images and videos with your contacts on WhatsApp. In the biggest Snapchat style. According to the announcement, these status updates are encrypted end-to-end.
To learn how it works, visit the link below:
This feature lets you post photos, videos and GIFs that disappear within 24 hours. This content may be published for all to see, or sent privately to one or more people.
WhatsApp: How to unsubscribe from photos and videos
Photos and videos take longer to send than text messages. Therefore, you can unsubscribe from these types of files if you mistakenly sent something to someone. To do this, you need to go into airplane mode as soon as the message is sent. You can also cancel the upload by clicking the "X" button that appears in the center of the video or the image while it is uploaded.
Remember, however, to delete the image still in Airplane mode or as soon as you cancel it, as with the return of the internet the content will be sent again.
WhatsApp: How to delete duplicate photos and videos
Whenever you send a photo, video, or audio file through WhatsApp, the application saves a copy in the smartphone's internal memory. Unfortunately, you can't deny this app permission on Android, only on iOS. As a native feature, WhatsApp only has the ability to prevent the automatic download of data we receive, not those we send, as we show in the next tip.
However, one can delete such files manually from the system, or use third party applications to do so. There are services you can remove them.
Manually: access Settings> Storage> Shared Internal Storage> Explore> WhatsApp> Media. Check the folder of "images", "audio" and "videos" and clean them manually.
Third party applications: Fortunately, there are applications that solve this problem with just one click. Our team has tested and indicated three different options: Siftr Magic Cleaner (also known as Magic Cleaner for WhatsApp), WhatSentCleaner and WhatsApp Cleaner (in Portuguese):
Magic Cleaner for Whatsapp free
Both applications focus on a specific task, perform their work efficiently, and the permissions they request are not abusive. With these apps, you can choose what you want to delete: photos, videos or audio files.
WhatsApp: How not to download media files automatically on WhatsApp
How many times have we been scared to see the phone bill because we have exceeded the data limit. A help to this is not to configure WhatsApp to download files only over Wi-Fi networks and never through our carrier's mobile network. Here's what to do:
- Open the app and click on the top right corner in the menu button. Then go to Settings> Chat Options> Automatic Media Download. When you reach, choose what you want to download automatically while connected to your mobile network and Wi-Fi.
For more information, see "How to turn off the automatic photo and video save function."
WhatsApp: How to draw on an image or video
WhatsApp, like Telegram, has gained a very interesting hand drawing feature. Then, as soon as a photo selected to be sent to another contact, a box with some drawing tools is displayed. Select an image, click the brush icon at the top of the screen, and draw a picture. You can also insert emojis into videos and on top of images.
WhatsApp: How to add a WhatsApp camera shortcut on home screen
WhatsApp comes with two very interesting widgets, one of which is the shortcut to the app's camera. With it, you can quickly shoot something and send it to a contact without having to open the app. To do this, flick your home screen and go to the Android widgets menu. Scroll to the bottom and choose the WhatsApp camera icon, select it, and move it to the home screen.
WhatsApp: Creating a Shortcut in a Conversation
In addition to having the WhatsApp camera on the phone's main page, you can also place the shortcut to one or more specific conversations. So if you have that person that you talk to very often, you can have their face right on the home page, without having to access the application.
To do so, just enter the conversation you choose and click the three dots in the upper right corner. Then go on More > Add Shortcut. And ready.
WhatsApp: How to send animated GIFs to other contacts
Anyone who has been using WhatsApp for some time knows that the app already sends GIFs without the need for a third party keyboard. To do this you need to go to the standard emoji tab and click on the GIF button at the bottom of it. In the "search for GIFs" tab, search for the animation you want, select it, and send it to your contact.
You can also paste a GIF link and embed it in your conversations. If you are looking for a keyboard that looks for animated GIFs for you, be sure to check out our special Slash keyboard article.
WhatsApp: organizing images in albums
By uploading more than two photos, the user can create custom albums, which are viewed in the chat itself. The remaining images included in the album are represented by a number, as with Google Photos, for example. By entering the album, you can view all shared photos. A menu at the top right shows some options, such as setting the image as a group photo or editing it.
WhatsApp: How to mute multiple conversations at once
Did you know that you can mute multiple WhatsApp conversations at the same time? The feature is not new, but allows users to perform the procedure at once, eliminating the need to do it individually. See below how to use:

Security and privacy

WhatsApp: How to hide last connection date
Particularly, I don't like when people can see when was the last time I used WhatsApp. You may simply not want to reply right after reading the message.
To avoid this problem, an application update allows you to hide the time of your last connection. only access the settings of Privacy and there, select who can view what was the last time you were online.
Groups and Transmissions
WhatsApp: How to send messages or files to more than one contact
Everyone has already received that cool video and wanted to send to several friends or invite the people to the barbecue in one message. To do this, you don't have to create a group and keep tormenting everyone's life with all the answers. Also, none of your contacts will know that you sent the message to other people.
To send a message to more than one person without creating groups, follow the steps below:
- Click on the three dots at the top of the screen;
- Click on "Share Message" or "New Broadcast";
- Add the contacts that should receive the message;
- Write a message or add a file;
- Click submit.
WhatsApp: Cleaning Up Group and Contact Contents
Upon entering Settings> Data and Storage> Storage Usage You can see all the groups you are part of, how much space the messages and content exchanged on them are taking up in the smartphone's memory (from most to least). And by entering each specific group or contact you can see information such as the amount of messages exchanged, contacts, contact locations, images, GIFs, video message, audio messages and documents.
And if you click Manage messagesAt the bottom of the screen you can select which category of content you would like to delete by clearing the memory of your smartphone.
WhatsApp: Clearing Conversation History
Another way to free up space on your smartphone to take good care of your conversations. In this sense, there are some options of what to do inside WhatsApp itself.
When accessing Settings> Conversations You can see both possibilities: Conversation Backup and Conversation History. When deciding to back up conversations you must link your Google account from Gmail to WhatsApp. You can save your messages and media files, including setting a periodicity for this backup: "Never, Just do when I tap Backup, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly." a way to have your conversations in the cloud and on your device.
Already in Conversation History you can find another destination for your conversations other than storage on your smartphone. You can Email Conversations, with or without media, Clear All Conversations, or Delete All Conversations. There is a fourth option to Archive all conversations, but that way they will continue to take up space in your memory.
WhatsApp: Cleaning up WhatsApp from Android
Another option to free up some of the space that WhatsApp occupies on Android via File Management from Android itself. In this case there are two ways: via Apps or via Storage. In either case, you can get to the same app info screen where you can see how much internal space the app is using and clear the data as well as cach.
From Storage, however, you can see your space usage by topics: Apps, Images, Videos, Audio, System, Other, Cached Data. And going into Pictures, Videos and Audio you can see the folders with this type of content separated by source, that is, everything that comes from WhatsApp, is in a folder that carries the name of the app. Simple in it?
