2nd edition of the START entrepreneurship award advances

The details of the second edition of the entrepreneurship award that joins BPI, Optimus and Universidade Nova de Lisboa were revealed on Friday. The initiative, which awards prizes worth 300 thousand euros, was created to involve «potential entrepreneurs, researchers, the business community and investors; and to reward and publicize innovative ideas for the creation of companies», says a statement.

Business ideas must be submitted by March 10, 2008. Ideas that are selected to pass to the second phase of the contest will have to be substantiated to the jury through the presentation of a business plan. The winner will be selected from the eight best business plans.

The best business project will receive a prize of 50 thousand euros that will be integrated into the capital of the new company, 12 thousand euros in Optimus communications, preferential credit conditions for BPI, in addition to free license and maintenance of software OutSystems Platform Professional Edition.

The disclosure of the START award will be made through a roadshow that will travel the country to share entrepreneurship experiences of guest speakers.
