The European Commission today announced the adoption of the ISA Work Program, an initiative that aims to support actions that contribute to improving interoperability and the exchange of information between European public administrations, electronically.
The initiative foresees an investment of 26 million euros, to be applied in projects that improve the communication mechanisms of the services among themselves and with the citizen and companies. The adoption of the program by the EC marks the moment when the associated funds become available.
The logic of the program is to accelerate interoperability mechanisms between services and ensure that efforts and investments are not duplicated, eliminating, as far as possible, barriers to the development of electronic public services.
«With the aim of offering easy-to-use public services for citizens and businesses, public administrations work together and exchange information, not only within the country but also across borders», explains Maroš Šef? Ovi ?, EC vice-president, quoted in a statement.
The same official adds that the ISA program is focused on actions that can improve cross-border cooperation between services at local, national or regional level.
