The list stands out for adding people with disabilities, such as a wheelchair, hearing aid and mechanical leg, an initiative proposed by Apple in 2018. It is also worth mentioning the novelty of the emoji of two people of the neutral gender holding hands, in addition to other combinations of skin tones and gender. The design of the emoticons in the Emoji 12.0 package is subject to change prior to its release. Check out the new faces confirmed for 2019 below.

The highlights in this category are people with disabilities, different skin tones and different types of gender. The update includes an ear with a hearing aid, mechanical arm and leg, a person in a mechanized wheelchair and another with manual wheels. In addition, the figure of a person with a guide stick and the deaf sign, illustrated by the index finger pointing to the cheek, were included. Accessibility emojis were proposed by Apple last year.

It is worth mentioning the emoji of two people of the neutral gender holding hands. There are different versions of this emoticon for all skin tones. Other faces represent a person standing, kneeling and a hand «pinching». For a smile, there’s a yawning emoji. Several emoticons in this category support different genres and skin tones.

For those who like animals, the list has some news: orangutan, sloth, otter, possum, flamingo and two images of guide dog: one with collar and one with vest. The latter two are also part of Apple’s initiative to represent emojis.

In the food and drink category, the following icons are confirmed: garlic, onion, waffle, falafel, butter, oyster, juice box, mate and ice cube.

The Emoji 12.0 package also features icons of Hindu temple, manual and motorized wheelchair, Tuk Tuk, parachute and planet Saturn.

This category received two emojis to remember children’s games: kite and yo-yo. The diving mask was also launched for those who like to swim.

The list includes safety vest (used in construction or other situations that require high visibility), Sári (typical Indian women’s clothing), swimsuit, underwear, shorts and ballet shoes.

Regarding symbols, the new emoji pack features squares and circles in different shades. Colors can range from orange, yellow, red, green, blue, purple and brown. The heart emoji got two new colors: white and brown.

There are also other varieties of new emojis, such as banjo, Diya (oil lamp used in India and Nepal), ax, drop of blood, band-aid, stethoscope, chair and razor.
