20th APDC Congress - Nice.reader da Viatecla prepares publications for the digital business model

APDC today launched the use of Viatecla’s Nice.Reader platform, publishing the entire history of Comunicações magazines on the iPad, but there are several Portuguese media groups interested in using this content publishing platform in Portugal. Pedro Seabra, Viatecla’s CEO, believes that this is a form of content monetization that can help the media to make a Restart in their business model, following the theme of the 20th APDC Congress.

Viatecla has been launching a series of content publishing platforms and even last year launched, precisely at the APDC congress, FutureBox.TV. For Pedro Seabra, Nice.Reader is yet another complement to an integrated strategy that Viatecla has followed and that is being directed to medium-sized companies but that can be applied by book publishers and also in the Tourism area, where the company there is also a product with an excellent implementation, KEYforTravel.

«The media face new profitability challenges for their business model and the need to publish content on various platforms easily and with additional value is one of the needs», explains Pedro Seabra, arguing that the market needs complete solutions, that do not require dispersion and duplication of work.

This is the focus of Nice.Reader, which allows publishing on mobile platforms such as phones, smartphones and tablets, but also on the web, which is still one of the platforms par excellence. «This is a solution out of the box which gives the possibility of rapid implementation, but also has a set of elements that can be adapted for a solution costum tailored to customers «, stresses the CEO of Viatecla.

With this application Publisher can experiment with various business models, from offering content to paid or mixed models, adjusting strategies according to the responses of customers. The licensing model «is competitive» and can cover several systems, from traditional licensing, licensing by publication, going through revenue share that allows risk sharing.

In addition to the national market, Viatecla believes that this is a product with potential in the international market, similarly to what already happens with other solutions of the company, which already performs about 30% of its turnover internationally.
