Apple says initial sale of new iPhones is expected to break the 2014 10 million record

Unlike the launch of the Apple Watch and even the iPhones 6/6 Plus, stocks of the iPhones 6s / 6s Plus during the first days of pre-sales did not run out so quickly. It is true, yes, that several models in several countries already have a delivery period for 2-3 weeks, but those who decided to buy on Saturday and even Sunday morning, in general, managed it peacefully.

This may have generated the following question in the minds of many: are the new iPhones disappointing and selling little? It doesn?t seem to be the case. Probably anticipating these questions, Apple today issued the following statement to some vehicles:

The response from customers for the iPhones 6s and 6s Plus is being extremely positive and the pre-sale this weekend was very strong worldwide. We are on track to break last year's record 10 million units when the new iPhones go on sale on September 25th.

As many consumers have noted, online demand for the iPhone 6s Plus was exceptionally strong and exceeded our own pre-sale forecasts. We are working to reach (the demand) as quickly as possible and we will have units of iPhones 6s Plus as well as iPhones 6s in Apple stores when they open next Friday (9/25).

Sales really seem to be good and the larger inventory can be explained by a simple detail: last year, Apple had only one week between pre-sales and the delivery / sale of devices in stores; now, in this launch, Apple preferred to spread things out more, giving a two-week gap between the beginning of pre-sales and the delivery / sale in stores. This, of course, directly influences the amount of devices it can produce in this period, we are talking about twice the time!

In the statement, Apple said it should beat the pre-sale of 10 million iPhones 6/6 Plus. This record was established by combining pre-sales and the first weekend of sales in physical stores. This year, in addition to having one more week to market the devices, China (Apple's main market alongside the USA) is part of the first batch of countries to receive iPhones 6s / 6s Plus. Adding this week more and China on the cake, I would say that Apple's obligation to break that record of 10 million. It remains to be seen now which number she will most likely announce on September 28.
