As expected, Phil Schiller announced the new version unibody the long-awaited 17-inch MacBook Pro. At just 2.6cm tall and just 3kg, it is the lightest and thinnest 17 ? notebook on the market.
The machine will feature a backlit LED display with a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels. With a 700: 1 contrast, it has the color gamut 60% better than the previous model. To the delight of many professional users, there is the option of a screen glossy with anti-glare. However, this change requires an additional cost of US $ 50, the change requires changing the bezel from the front to the inside of the display.
The connection options on the side are: MagSafe, Gigabit Ethernet, Mini DisplayPort, three USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 800, digital audio output and input and ExpressCard card slot. Its internal configurations have also undergone a major update. The 17 ? MacBook Pro features a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (or 2.93GHz as an option), 6MB of L2 cache, support for up to 8GB of 1,066MHz DDR3 RAM.
Like the 15-inch MacBook Pro, the 17 ? model is equipped with both the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card and the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT model for increased performance. It has a 320GB hard drive at 5400RPM as a standard option and can be customized with a 128GB model at 7200RPM or a 256GB SSD model.
The battery of the new MacBook Pro has also undergone major changes. As expected, it is not as removable as the MacBook Air. With this change, engineers were able to increase their capacity to an incredible eight hours of use with the GeForce 9400M, or seven hours with the GeForce 9600M GT. The battery charging cycle also jumped to 1,000 times almost three times the average battery life of other manufacturers.
The new MacBook Pro unibody 17-inch will be available for purchase at the end of January at a price of $ 2,800 in its standard configuration.
