LG may launch rotary and "rollable" mobile phones until next year

Mobile phones have undergone many changes over the past few years, with foldable smartphones dictating the latest trends. However, it seems that LG wants to go further and launch rotating and "rollable" mobile phones until next year. This is one of the main promises of the brand, taking advantage of the screen technology it is developing, but not entirely innovative, since TCL has advanced this year with the same concept.

News about LG's new proposals was advanced on a South Korean news website, which explains that the rotary model could be launched as early as the second half of this year. To be confirmed, the smartphone features two monitors that can be rotated horizontally, similar to the design of mobile phones of the 2000s, such as Nokia 6260 and Nokia N93.

In the first half of next year, LG plans to launch a new smartphone design, due to be announced at the 2021 edition of the Mobile World Congress. This will be the "roll-up" model.

The news comes after the brand in 2019 presented a television with a display that curls and, more recently, in 2020 has revealed a new version. In addition, it was promised to launch a new model for this year.

As for smartphones, the latest LG Velvet hit the Korean market last week and is expected to arrive in the west in late May. Regarding specifications, the equipment powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor, which gives the smartphone 5G support, has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

Its 6.8-inch OLED screen houses the biometric fingerprint sensor and a small central notch for the front camera. It is said that the model supports the stylus of the brand, as well as its cover accessory that adds an extra screen. The smartphone is also IP68 certified, ie water and dust resistant.

In the search for new models of smartphones, TCL also announced in March new concepts of rollable and flexible screens, but which still have no date to reach the market.
