It is possible to issue a duplicate of invoices over the Internet, from the website of the Treasury Department (Sefaz). For that, you need to have the electronic invoice (NF-e) access key on hand. After entering the 44-digit code, the system retrieves the information from the document and is capable of generating an XML file with legal validity, as well as the physical version of the invoice.

If you do not have the access key, the user can try to get it directly from the seller, search the purchase records in your email or use the DANFE (Auxiliary Document of the Electronic Invoice). The document accompanies products purchased over the Internet and a simplified version of the NF-e, but with no tax value.

It is worth mentioning that, although it presents the main information contained in the electronic invoice, DANFE does not replace it. It is just a graphical representation of the NF-e, that is, a printed document that is not actually a physical version of the NF-e, but it is very close to that, since it brings the main information about the purchase. In the following tutorial, learn how to get a duplicate invoice over the Internet.

How to get old invoices?
The invoices are examined by the IRS to identify tax evasion by companies and to maintain control over tax matters. This means that companies can suffer huge losses if the IRS requests the document and they do not make it available.
Fortunately, it is possible to get old or lost invoices with the help of the Recipient Manifestation Application, made available by Sefaz at www.mde.fazenda.sp.gov.br. The software allows you to view the list of banknotes that have been issued against the company in up to 90 days and download the documents in XML, using the digital certificate. There are also paid tax management programs that do the job.
