Tim Cook confirms that Apple will offer universal search API for the new Apple TV

In a continuation of the interview in which Tim Cook stated that Apple is considering allowing users to uninstall native iOS apps, the BuzzFeed yesterday revealed how to work the universal search of the new Apple TV via Siri.

According to Cook, Apple offers an API (application programming interface, or application programming interface) for developers to embed universal tvOS search support in their apps. That is, although initially Apple TV shows results only from the iTunes Store, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime and HBO, in time many others should enter the cake.

Reporter John Paczkowski asked Cook, too, how to work when the same content (an episode of a series, for example) is available through more than one service. The Apple CEO said the system would show all possible options to the user, highlighting what is free what you have already paid for subscription, such as Netflix and giving you the choice of what you prefer.

Everything is very good, but the bad news for us Brazilians is that initially Siri will not be available in Portuguese on Apple TV even though we already have Siri support in our language on iOS. It is difficult to understand why this is so; we hope it doesn't take too long for it to expand internationally.

A few days ago, Anatel already approved the fourth generation Apple TV.
