LinkedIn displays profiles of people who are close to you, to enable new connections on the social network. The function In your area is based on the Bluetooth range to show active contacts in that environment and, thus, allows you to find contacts at work, at events or meetings. It is worth mentioning that other people must also have Bluetooth enabled to be found.
