As we reported last month, the head of Apple Pay, Jennifer Bailey, participated last night in the Code / Mobile conference held by Re / code.
Interviewed by Ina Fried, Bailey announced that Apple's mobile payments service will enter a pilot program in the Starbucks later this year, expanding to all stores controlled directly by the chain in the USA (about 7,500) in 2016. Also next year, KFC and Chili?s will now accept payments via Apple Pay.
Especially about KFC, Bailey commented that she had a special affection for the network because it was there that she got her first job.
Check out a piece of the interview on the video below:
Although Apple said that 2015 would be ?the year of Apple Pay?, overall service growth has been slow and it still accounts for a very small portion of commercial transactions in the United States and the United Kingdom. These remain the only two countries where Apple Pay has been officially launched.
