NVIDIA CUDA technology gains support for Nero Move It, providing 500% faster acceleration

Nero Move It Box

Another multimedia application can now use GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) GeForce to speed up video encoding: Nero yesterday announced an update to Move It that adds support for NVIDIA's CUDA technology, providing 500% higher performance than before.

The product has been in existence since September last year and allows users to transfer music, videos and photos between different computers and devices. The update opens the possibility of transcoding H.264 videos with graphics processors GeForce 8 or higher, not only much faster, but also using much less CPU.

The CUDA computing architecture of NVIDIA GPUs serves to enable massive parallel processing. The first model was launched in November 2006 with the GeForce 8800, and has been on all of the manufacturer's GPUs since then. The OpenCL technology (more on Wikipedia), which Apple intends to implement in future iPhones and from Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, will be responsible for exploring all these benefits.
