Foxconn joins medical technology and changes iPhones production line to build fans

Foxconn is Apple's biggest partner in the manufacture of iPhones, but it will change its production line from the Wisconsin plant to join the COVID-19 combat and start fan production. The company allied with Medtronic in this project and foresees the start of production between four to six weeks.

In a CNBC interview, quoted by Business Insider, Omar Ishrak, Medtronic's CEO, says that the manufacturer adopted its open source design of the fan model. The company, a specialist in medical equipment, had about 70 thousand downloads.

At the beginning of the year, it had already changed some of its production lines in China to produce medical masks. This factory alone is responsible for about 50% of the worldwide production of iPhones.

Other giants like Ford, Tesla and GM had also changed their factories to build fans. In the case of the manufacturer of Elon Musk, parts of the famous Tesla cars were used as components for the fans. The decision is based on the Tesla team's knowledge of the materials and their reliability, in order to speed up the entire production process.
