According to Matt Thornton, an analyst at AVI Securities, the Apple tablet is now "in full production" corroborating bets from some that it would already be manufactured in late 2009, for a launch in early 2010. The information would have come from component manufacturers that will be on iSlate.
Current estimates are that Apple will be able to sell ten million units of the new Mac touchscreen each year, which would already explain the problems with the supply of NAND flash memories that have been occurring in Asia.
Considering that the rumors about the launch on the 27th are true, Apple should send an invitation to the press this week no later than Wednesday (1/20), I would say.
