Instagram highlights went offline this Friday (29). Complaints on Twitter started at around 5:30 pm in several languages, implying that the problem that affected Brazil also affected other countries. The bug prevented users from putting new posts in the spotlight or seeing the highlights of friends in the Android and iPhone mobile app (iOS). On Instagram web the feature worked normally. The feature is widely used to keep stories in the air for more than the 24 hours that are the application's standard.
In response to TechTudo, Instagram's advisory in Brazil issued the following note: "Earlier today some users had problems temporarily viewing the highlights. This was caused by a bug that was quickly resolved," he said.

According to reports from some users, the function started to normalize around 6:40 pm. On Google Trends, a site that tracks search volume by specific terms, the expression "Instagram highlights" peaked this afternoon, as shown in the image below.
Coincidentally – or not – The Verge website published today that Instagram is testing a new fixed bar for featured Stories. With the novelty, the posts would be at the top of the screen while users browse the feed.
