Apple launched yesterday, after much waiting, a ?MacBook Maintenance Extension Program for Hard Drive Problems? aimed at MacBook users with hard drive problems. The affected units were sold approximately between May 2006 and December 2007.
If your MacBook was purchased during the period listed above and you have a question mark flashing on the screen, take it to Apple or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have the hard drive examined and to determine if it is eligible for a replacement, free of charge under this program.
The affected laptops are only 13-inch MacBooks, both black and white. The processor can vary between 1.83GHz, 2GHz or 2.16GHz, and hard disk capacities between 60GB, 80GB, 100GB, 120GB or 160GB.
If you think your MacBook may be compromised by the failure, contact an Apple-authorized service center. THE recall worldwide and covers all affected notebooks for up to three years after the original purchase date, or until August 15, 2010.
