The teams playing on the second day of the round of 16 of the 2018 World Cup were honored by Google with Doodles this Sunday (1). The teams from Russia and Spain, who face each other at 11 am (Brasilia time), and Croatia and Denmark, which compete for a spot in the next phase at 3 pm, won illustrations. The animations of the countries are alternated in the logo of the search engine.
The Doodles are part of the Google project created in partnership with native artists from the 32 nations participating in the World Cup. The idea behind the drawings is to show what football means in the homeland of each team, according to these varied cultures and the talents that represent them.

Spain is portrayed by illustrator Andrs Lozano, who affirms that football is so important for his country that he is known as the king of sports and is part of everyone's life, even those who do not like the game. Much like Brazil, right? In the drawing, Spanish fans follow a game of their team in a bar, on television.
Artist Arina Shabanova created the Doodle for the World Cup host, where a football match takes place in front of So Baslio Cathedral, one of the greatest symbols of Russia. All around, fans with typical costumes and characteristic architecture complement the scene. For Shabanova, sport is the main country and is responsible for much more than a game, it is also a spectacle that brings people together.

In Denmark's design, the passion for football mixes with the tradition of bicycles. Doodle author Rune Fisker said the two bring joy and enthusiasm to their people. The illustration shows men and women riding different types of bikes within a football field. In the background, you can see the Borsen, a famous monument located in the capital Copenhagen.
