What and how Whereby works
Whereby is a platform for video conferencing in the browser. The tool does not require downloading programs or registering guests. To join a meeting, the participant only needs to click on the link provided by the administrator and enter his name.

In addition to the web version, Whereby has an application for Android phones and iPhone (iOS). The platform also offers an extension for Chrome. The plugin, which can be found in the Chrome Web Store, allows easy access to the meeting room and integration with Google Calendar.
To create a meeting on Whereby you need to register on the platform with email and password. If you prefer, the user can log in from their Google account. After the quick registration, it is necessary to create a custom URL for the meeting room. That done, just pass the link on to the participants.

During the video conference, it is possible to share the screen with the guests, exchange messages in the chat and record the online meeting. The recording can be downloaded or stored in the service cloud. Whereby also allows you to send quick feedbacks with emojis, just like in Instagram Stories reactions. All features are intuitive to use and are marked with self-explanatory icons.
The free plan allows you to have video conferences with up to four participants. It is possible to create only one meeting room, the link of which can be customized by the administrator. Among the features of the free modality are screen sharing, chat and integration with YouTube.
With the Pro plan, which costs US $ 9.99 (about R $ 50, in direct conversion) to the month, the user has three meeting rooms at his disposal and can gather up to 12 participants in a single videoconference.

The features of the free version get an upgrade: in addition to YouTube, the service now offers integration with Trello and Google Drive. You can also customize the logo and background of the meeting room and, for an additional $ 5, record your online meetings.
In the Business plan, the number of guests in the video conference is over 50, and the number of meeting rooms is 10. However, only 12 participants can appear on the video at the same time; the rest must participate by audio only. Subscribers are also exempt from paying the $ 5 fee to record meetings, which is now an unlimited resource.
In addition, it is possible to customize an exclusive domain for the company and add multiple administrators. The Business version also offers integration with calendar and premium technical support. The subscription costs US $ 59.99 (about R $ 300, in direct conversion) per month.
In comparison to the competition, Whereby is far behind in the reach of meetings Photo: Divulgao / Zoom
Although Whereby perfectly meets the basic needs of users, the platform lags behind many competitors, especially in relation to the scope of meetings. While Zoom Meetings' most premium plan supports meetings with up to 500 participants and seminars with 10,000 viewers, Whereby allows a maximum of 50 people to participate. In contrast, the free service plan does not limit the duration of meetings, as Zoom does.
Whereby also loses to Hangouts Meet, Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams. Focused on the business environment, these platforms allow video calls with up to 250 people. Regarding the Google tool, Whereby stands out for allowing integration with external applications, a feature that is also present in Teams.
