It was like that in 2014, in 2015 and now in 2016. For the third consecutive year, Apple appears on 11 position in the ranking compiled by IFI CLAIMS Patent Services of the companies that registered the most patents in the United States.
IBM has been leading this ranking for more than two decades and that has not changed in 2016. The Top 5, incidentally, remained exactly the same:
THE Apple continues to occupy 11th position, even though it registered 8.4% more patents. Among the top 20 places, the highlight is the rise of Intel (3 positions), TSMC (4 positions) and Amazon (12 positions).
In total, IFI CLAIMS registered a record of 304,126 patents (against 299,365 in 2015). Among the nationalities of the companies that registered the most, we have: USA (41%), Japan (28%), South Korea (15%), Taiwan (4%), Germany (2.6%) and China (2.5 %).
