1Password launches individual subscription plan for $ 3 monthly

O 1Password It is one of the most used password managers available on the market and, as the comparison we published a few weeks ago pointed out, is also one of the best. One of the factors that drove away a portion of its target audience was its price: $ 60 for the Mac version, and $ 10 (via In-App Purchase) for iOS. Now, it may be that this prohibitive product view changes a lot.

I say this because AgileBits, developer of 1Password, announced the launch of an individual subscription plan for the service. The new business model gives the user access to manager applications on all desktop or mobile platforms, with the right to all updates, as well as automatic secure data synchronization on 1Password's own servers, without the need for iCloud or Dropbox. as intermediaries, and visualization of data over the web.

The subscription also includes protection against data loss, a history of items to restore accidentally deleted or altered data and a new security model with multiple factors for accessing the keys. All of this costs $ 3 a month cheaper than the family plan previously offered for $ 5 / ms, 1Password's first attempt in the subscription field.

As part of a launch promotion, whoever signs the new plan until September 21st wins the first six months completely free of charge, being able to cancel at any time and still have access to their data to view and / or export.

Despite the launch, the traditional 1Password business model also continues to apply to those who have already purchased applications or prefer to pay a single amount, with no monthly charges. In any case, AgileBits is encouraging consumers to switch to the new plan and has already made available a page to help current users migrate their data to the new account.
