MM Answers: how to change your macOS login screen image?

Sunday with another tip from our column MM Answers! ?

The question of the day:

How to change your macOS login screen image?

Login table and screen

Since OS X Yosemite 10.10, the Mesa image (Desktop) or the color chosen as the background image is also the standard Mac login screen.

If you changed the image and it was not updated automatically, there is probably a problem with your permissions and you will have to venture a little further into macOS.

Finder, cache and login screen image

To correct problems with your login screen image, follow these steps:

  1. In the Finder, go to the menu Go and select ?Go to Folder?.
  2. Type the following path: / Library / Caches /.

Finder - Caches

  1. Delete the com.apple.desktop.admin.png file.
  2. Open macOS System Preferences.
  3. See ?Table and Screen Saver? area, and select your preferred image or color.

If all goes well, in a few seconds you will see the com.apple.desktop.admin.png file in the original folder again, and you can even view it by clicking on the space bar after clicking on it.
