O DigiTimes blamed LG Display for a fair share of blame on the production problems of the iPad 2, which have yet to allow Apple to control demand for the tablet around the world. An anomaly found in the LCD industry contracted by Ma reduced the total units to be delivered for the manufacture of the gadget.
AChimei Innolux (CMI) should join LG Electronics and Samsung in the sale of screens for iPads 2 starting this month. Together, Apple's two current partners delivered more than 7 million LCD panels in the first quarter; however, a portion of this lot still had to be allocated for the production of tablet units in early April.
Still according to the DigiTimes, the problems faced by LG in the first quarter limited the supply of its components to Apple as soon as the transition from the production line of the original iPad to its second generation. In addition, they would also have led to the appearance of tablet units with brightness defects on the screen.
