Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo counted exclusively on the AppleInsider It is the result of one of its investigations with Asian suppliers: Apple had already ordered the manufacture of 380,000 MacBooks Air in June, to be put on the market in July. There is only one detail: these machines would already be equipped with Sandy Bridge processors, confirming previous rumors.
Of this total, 55% would be 11-inch machines, which are more popular because of the more affordable price. Additionally, 80,000 units of the current generation of the ultraportable notebook would be produced, bringing the total of MacBooks Air manufactured in June to around 460,000.
This update should bring, in addition to new Core i5 / i7 processors, a Thunderbolt port, more storage options and, depending on the date of its arrival, OS X Lion pre-installed. It is also possible that the white MacBook will also be updated (ie discontinued for good) soon.
