Apple promotions week. A few days ago, Isabel Ge Mahe was appointed vice president and director of the Greater China region; today, Apple won its first vice president of people.
Her name Deirdre OBrien, until then VP of sales and worldwide operations. After nearly 30 years at Apple, she now reports directly to CEO Tim Cook.
In his new position, which he will assume in the autumn of the northern hemisphere, OBrien will head all Human Resources-related functions including talent development, recruitment, benefits, compensation and business support, as well as leading Apple University.
"For all the time I was at Apple, Deirdre was the glue that unites our operations, sales, marketing and finance teams to deliver products to our consumers," said Cook. ?Deirdre deeply understands Apple's unique culture and that people join Apple to do the best job of their lives. She is a superb leader and I am happy that she is bringing her experience and talent to this critical role. ?

The executive has a key stake in virtually all Apple product launches over the past 20 years, having originally joined the company in 1988. All the best for her in her new position! ?
