THE Gartner today released the results of the seventh edition of Supply Chain Top 25, an annual list that seeks to raise awareness among companies about the production chain and how it can influence their business. Apple conquered the top of the list for the fourth time in a row, having obtained a final score of 8.5. Second came Dell, with 5.14. Closing the first five positions, we had Procter & Gamble, Research In Motion (RIM) and Amazon.com, with 5.13, 5.10 and 5.07, respectively.
"Leaders have been moving rapidly up the demand-based maturity curve over the past few years," said Debra Hofman, vice president of research at Gartner. ?What differentiates companies that are true? orchestrators ?that they go beyond simply leveraging and adapting best practices. They create completely new practices, often defying ?common sense? to rewrite the rules and increase the distance between them and the rest. ?
